Smart India Hackathon 2018
You are aware that the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2017 has brought together more than 40,000 students of technical institutions to solve 598 problem statements that have relevance for the society at large. The Grand Finale was organized across 26 different cities in India on 1st and 2nd April 2017 during which approximately 10,000 participants coded non-stop for 36 hrs. and Hon’ble Prime Minister Personally addressed them. The Smart India Hackathon 2017 helped us institutionalize the model for harnessing the creativity and technical expertise of our youth in the technical institutions for national development. It also helped us establish world’s biggest open innovation model. To take this initiative forward, MHRD has announced the next edition called ‘ Smart India Hackathon 2018 ’. This newer version of Hackathon will be more inclusive in nature and more objective oriented approach i.e. focus on both software and hardware approach to develop innovative solutions for the various set of problems and challenges not only from various central ministries but also from state governments and some extent from industries and society as well. I am happy to inform that about 50 Central Government Ministries and 25 State Governments are participating in SIH-2018.
We will be releasing the problem statements in the first week of November, and the registrations will be open on
\https://innovate.mygov.i/sih2018/ till 15th December 2017. I request you to take this message to all the students who are studying in the technical institutions and ensure highest possible participation.
I may add here that some of the institutions have missed out on the last Smart India Hackathon 2017. I will be personally monitoring the participation of AICTE approved institutions in SIH-2018 and would request for high level of participation.
